Jeri Martinez is an Army veteran and has been inspiring Performance United athletes since 2013. Over the last four years Jeri has coached and mentored America’s best track cycling athletes, including the 2016 Olympic team. High-performance is nothing new for Coach Jeri as he earned the honors of becoming both a Master Fitness Instructor (MFT) as well as a Master Trainer in Hand to Hand Combatives for the United States Army.
Recipient of both the Purple Heart and Silver Star for heroic service to his country, Justin is a former elite college wrestler turned track cyclist via a non-traditional route. During Justin's second deployment to Iraq in 2006, he suffered severe injuries due to multiple concussions from improvised explosive device (IED) blasts, and a drop from a helicopter.
Coaching and Leadership Advisor
Kent E. Menzel, Ph.D., is Professor of Communication & Theatre at DePauw University. As Team Director and Coach, Kent has built DePauw U Cycling into a Division II collegiate cycling powerhouse, recording ten top five team finishes. In the three years leading up to the Rio Olympics, he led training camps in support for Team USA’s women’s team pursuit program which went on to win two medals at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.
Two-time national champion Alex Darville brings a youthful mix of both elite road and track experience to assist and mentor our Performance United track and road cycling athletes. In addition to his two national championship titles on the Velodrome, Alex has earned multiple podium appearances in some of the world’s most prestigious U23 road races, including a stage win at the Tour de L’Abitibi in 2012.
