Kent E. Menzel, Ph.D., is Professor of Communication & Theatre at DePauw University. As Team Director and Coach, Kent has built DePauw U Cycling into a Division II collegiate cycling powerhouse, recording ten top five team finishes. In the three years leading up to the Rio Olympics, he led training camps in support for Team USA’s women’s team pursuit program which went on to win two medals at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.
With a primary focus on women's cycling and development, Kent has worked with Coach Andy Sparks on various projects for over twenty years. In addition to the practical aspects of team management, Kent has researched communication with athletes about body composition, attrition and retention for female cyclists, as well as more aspects of communication related to coaching.
A talented teacher and researcher, Menzel is a nationally-recognized expert in classroom communication and the processes of promoting and supporting undergraduate research.
Professor Menzel earned his Ph.D. from the University of Denver, his M.A. from Marquette University, and completed his B.A. at Ripon College.
